Latin name is Tabernaemontana alternifolia It is a small tree, native to the Western Ghats, growing not more than 8 meters in height. Belongs to the family – Apocynaceae. Is found all over the Matheran jungle, with a light bark and shiny leaves. White flowers, 5 wavy sepals, fused at the base. Fruit is quite interesting – it consists of two boat-shaped orange pods, upto 4 cm long, with recurved beaks.
