Common name is Bandicoot berry. It is a large shrub found in every corner of Matheran. The leaves are compound, tapering, serrated and of a beautiful scarlet color when tender. The flowers are greenish white and the fruit a small berry. A decoction of the root is given in colic, is cooling and relieves thirst. The roasted leaves are applied to the head in vertigo. The juice of the young leaves is a digestive.
