Commonly known as karvi – the shrub found all over the western ghats, in Maharashtra it flowers once in 7 years. It starts flowering in the months of August and lasts for about 2 months. The flowers are a treat to the eye, comes in different shades of purple. It is found all over the plateau, mainly along the periphery. Known areas are Lower Hart point, Belverdere point, Panorama and Garbit points. It is a large shrub, normally around 4-5 feet, but there are some that attain a height of 15-20 feet.
