Peculiar name, one would think that the water is black, it is not black, but it is pure drinking water filtered by the rocks and soil. It may be called black because where it emerges the forest is thick and dark, and against the black rock, the water appears black. (This is my conclusion, I have not read this anywhere). A great place to spend an evening listening to gentle flow of water, chirping of the birds and gazing at the vast Katwin river valley below. Photos do not do justice, one has to be there.
