Just before reaching Monkey Point there is a path of the right which locals take to go to Dodhani village. Dodhani village is in the plains, which is around 20-24 km from Panvel. A number of locals make this ascent and descent via this path daily to Matheran. Some for work, some carry grass loads on their heads, which they sell in the market to feed the horses. While descending to Monkey point from the mud road above, this is the second pathway on the left, the first leads to Hart point. A few feet below is the spring where water oozes out from the rock. This is the start of a steep gully that in the monsoon has plenty of water. It is perennial and drinkable, but only a trickle in summer.
