Translate to Marathi and it will read Red spring. I wonder why, could be because of the red mud around. It is not easy to reach this spring, one of the visitors here very likely to be a leopard. On more than one occasion I have found leopard droppings in the vicinity of this spring. In the monsoon it is a roaring waterfall. An ideal place to be early morning or late evening, looking at the sun going behind the Matheran range and the Matheran town in the distance. To reach here one has to move off the main path that leads to Garbut point.
