Common name is Veined-Leaf fig. A large buttressed tree growing up to 40 m in height. This tree can be seen halfway down to Monkey point on the left. It is huge. It flowers and fruits between March and May. This tree is very common in the northern and central part of the Matheran plateau. There are a number of trees around Woodland hotel. The bark is grey in colour. Leaves are alternate, 10-20 cms, elliptic to obovate with nerve looping and prominent beneath. Fruits are small, green when raw and red when ripe. Picked up the green fruit from the forest floor in the middle of June.
