Terminalia Chebula


Common name is Chebulic Myrobalan, Marathi Hirad. It is a medium sized tree, known for it’s medicinal properties. It is one of the three Triphala ingredients used in Ayurveda.

It has a greenish-grey smooth bark, leaves are subopposite , elliptic, oblong, up to 15 cm in length, rounded or cordate at the base, with two or more glands near the top. Flowers are yellowish, in terminal or panicle spikes, up to 15 cm long. Fruit are ellipsoid to obovoid, 2 to 3.5 cm long, obscurely 5 ribbed.
