Common name is Alu or Aaliv in some regions. It is also known as Meyna laxiflora. It is a small medium sized tree with medicinal value. Research suggests that it may have anti-diabetic, antioxidant, anti bacterial, and anti fungal activities. It has spines on it’s branches, flowers in mach-april and are small greenish white. Fruits in the monsoon, when ripe become brown like a chickoo, it is edible and can be consumed raw or dried.
